This workshop offers experienced professionals the opportunity to explore their leadership and interaction styles to accomplish the commitment to mentor students, new clinicians and SLPAs. Considering both the mentor’s and mentee’s knowledge, personality and needs will give supervisors new perspectives and insights, leading to positive trusting relationships and effective support and guidance.

Shellie Bader
Shellie Bader, M.A., CCC-SLP, is an SLP Director for EBS Healthcare. She manages facility relationships and clinical services to assure the highest quality therapy and treatment for children in schools and the community. She has expertise and proven success in supervision and training, as well as building cohesive, goal-oriented teams and in implementing outcomes-based, innovative services. Prior to joining EBS, Ms. Bader directed and managed school and related services operations for programs in Los Angeles and nationwide, developing successful partnerships between the public and private sector, improving service and student success.

Learner Objectives

  1. Define supervision, mentoring, coaching and leadership and discuss the vital contribution these skills have on mentee’s growth and professional development.
  2. Analyze their own leadership and interaction styles and identify how this impacts interaction with mentees.
  3. Identify ways to improve mentoring skills and supervisory techniques by utilizing their knowledge of personal social styles.
  4. Identify how they will implement effective goals, strategies, and activities to supervise SLPAs, Clinical Fellows and Student Interns.
